Whistle Stop Trade Days
A Hidden Gem In The Panhandle That Provides
Fun For The Whole Family!
While living in Dallas, working at the Dallas Cowboy Golf Club and working toward her Masters in Speech Pathology, Kim Green and her husband Jordan began to feel a pull to come back home to the Panhandle. With Kim being from Amarillo and having family urge them to come home, the couple found the massive empty space in Clarendon along Highway 287 and decided to move home and start a family and a new adventure. The Greens saw the potential of the previous Chamberlain Motor’s location in Clarendon and knew they had to do something with it! They purchased the property in August 2015 and began a massive remodeling project. Kim gives all the praise to Jordan, who is considered a “jack of all trades”, for rebuilding and fixing the entire property and sole maintaining it all today. By April 2016, they launched Whistle Stop Trade Days, named after the fact that a train runs behind the property and blows it’s horn every 20 minutes.
The Whistle Stop Trade Days is a hidden gem in the Texas Panhandle. The first weekend of every month over 100 unique vendors gather to sell their treasures. Whistle Stop carries a list of over 485 vendors that come in and out each month so each time you visit Whistle Stop, you will find something new! At this indoor/outdoor flea market, you will find everything from antiques, boutiques, home decor, vintage, junk, furniture, arts & crafts, farmer’s market, tools, animals and much more. And Whistle Stop always has room for new businesses, artists and crafters!
Kim feels honored to provide a unique space for small businesses from all over the Panhandle to showcase their products and crafts. She also attributes the success of Whistle Stop to having such a supportive family and some amazing vendors she’s had the privilege to work with over the years. Kim believes, “The people in the Texas Panhandle are amazing. They are all so friendly and are always eager to help each other.”
They also have food trucks for every taste, a bar and grill, a variety of live music playing all day and a shady beer garden serving the coldest beer around. For the kids they have a giant slide and play area and pets are welcome. The friendly folks at Whistle Stop make the atmosphere fun, relaxing and enjoyable for everyone making it a fantastic place to spend your day with friends and family. Kim explains, “Our goal is to create an atmosphere where people can get out, have a great time and connect with one another. We want to be the preferred flea market for vendors and their guests. We want to simply leave our guests with a good feeling and a great memory.”
The Whistle Stop Trade Days market is located at 1211 E. 2nd Street in Clarendon. They are open the first Saturday and Sunday of each month from 9:00am-5:00pm and admission is FREE.
